This past weekend I ended up driving thru Los Gatos, Monte Soreno and Los Altos. Can you imagine I saw 3 Ferraris in that time. I know that those areas are the home of the wealthy but 3 of the more expensive cars cruising by me? Pretty cool. I'm not a car nut but even I think Ferraris rock!

While visiting my dear friends Emil and Barb at their Los Altos home, I arrived before they got home. So I decided to take some macro photos of the flowers in the front yard. The last time I visited several weeks ago, I had met Emil in the front yard watering his garden. So I know there was a bit of care involved with their garden! Although it was a beautiful day for a Sunday, the lighting was not ideal for outdoor photography (i.e. since the sun a little past high noon). So I guestimated for the exposure and took these shots. Ok so I cheated a little bit in Lightroom to bring out the colors but what the hey...!

Boy the photography business has been getting busy for me lately. I have picked up quite a few photo gigs including a senior photo, cotillion, glamour, family photos and the upcoming wedding in August! Today I did a 2nd senior photo shoot with the very pretty, Jade. As luck would have it, the weather was nice and overcast when we met up at the first location (her high school). Our second location was about 5 miles away near a nice bridge in Silver Creek Valley. We spent the first half of the time doing more group photos of Jade and the members of her court who showed up. The last half was the solo shots of Jade (headshots, portraits, etc). Here's some of the photos I had a chance to edit so far. The other very pretty girl is Jade's cousin, Jena.

As many of you know, I always do some editing of my photoshoot as soon as I finish filtering the ones that make the cut.

I have to update a few more photos from Sonia's senior photo session. These photos are absolutely gorgeous, if I don't say so myself! But I think you'll agree. The photo with Sonia holding her poodle, Cheyenne, she looks like a supermodel (albeit wearing casual clothes).

Promo codes

So I've been working on an engagement photo book for one of my wedding couples. Just finished it using mpix.com whom I've used in the past. While I love their quality and service, I've been miffed in the past because they don't offer discount or promo codes like my other vendors whom I've used (Mypublisher, Asuka to name a few). Well while I was googling "mpix promo" code, I found this awesome photographer/blogger site. He has a great list of discount codes including mpix that is great for photographers like me!

Here's some photos from the house where I took photos from Friday's photo shoot. The house belongs to my friend Sonia who lives in Monte Soreno, Calif. Its pretty much in the same area as Los Gatos where many of the affluent people in Silicon Valley live. Sonia's dad asked me to take some photos of the house. These are just a few I took. I will be taking more detailed photos this week. A very beautiful house, I must say!

This is for the very beautiful Leila and Sonia who I had the opportunity to take photos of at Santa Row today. Aren't they gorgeous? Santa Row, for those who don't know, is a very posh shopping area in San Jose. It has a very Euro-centric look and feel. It made a perfect backdrop for today's photos.

I just got my new 85mm f/1.8 lens that I ordered from Adorama this week. To get some practice with it, I snapped a few shots of my niece earlier this morning. Adding a little creative touch, I edited both files in Photoshop (one which I made a collage).

Here's the video follow-up of the still image photo I posted yesterday. I'm reminded that one of the things I wanted to do now that I have more time to devote to my photography business is to create more photo editing tutorials. There's definitely more to come. This is a sample of a recent model photo that shows the different phases of editing. From basic to advanced editing, each image has a brief description of what was done. I will be posting the video tutorial showing how to do this type of editing. This is a beginner to moderate tutorial. You should have some working knowledge of how to use photoshop and actions.
