I just finished watching an MSNBC video of Michael Moore interviewing him for his latest documentary, "Capitalism: A Love Story". During the interview he brought up a couple of good points that I agree would make our system of democracy less corrupt.
Point #1: "Money out of politics". Publicly financed elections. Further Moore points out that this system is already in place in the majority of democratic governments in the world. In our current form of the election process, we allow money to influence and control the process which points out is a bastardization of democracy!
Point #2: There should be also that excludes politicians from working as lobbyist in the area they worked in. There was an article that said that lobbyist spending increased to 3.3 Billion this year. That's a lot of politicians being bought up by special interest groups!
I feel very strongly about this issue because we're seeing the utter failure of our economic and political system due to a corrupt and weak government. I believe in our last presidential elections, the people want a change for a better. Hopefully our current administration will be able to effect those changes.
